Four several years now my partners and I have owned a Payroll Company here in Indian River County. I personally have been in the payroll business for a number of years. I know the payroll procedures inside and out. Yet, just when I feel confident that I am up to date on all there is to know, the Department of Labor comes up with something new. Are you prepared for your upcoming job interview? Did you do your research about the company you are interviewing with? Have you talked to your friends who work there about the culture of the company? If you have done all these things, then you are ready. Right? The answer is “No, You aren’t”. Because even more important is the ability to let the interviewer know who you are. What you bring to the table, how you can help their company.
The job interview will probably start off with some general introductory questions, such as:
These are questions you need to prepare strong answers for. Ask yourself the questions, write them down, then formulate answers. Get in front of a mirror, or if you are really brave, record yourself giving the answers. Then watch the video, note the parts where you hesitate, or say um, or like, or you know, and do it again, until you have it down pat. Remember, you are probably going to be a little nervous, so having the words burned into your memory is the safest thing to do. Don’t worry, they probably won’t come out exactly as you planned, in fact that is a good thing, you don’t want to sound like a robot. But being prepared and polished is going to impress a potential employer, stumbling and fumbling around will not.

Failing up. Nope, that isn’t a typo. I am talking about failing and using that failure to help you move up in the world. Inventors do it all the time. They get an idea for an invention, refine, patent it, and along they way they find a whole new invention.Not letting a temporary setback set you back.
That’s more like what I am addressing here. The kind of failure I am writing about today isn’t the kind where you show up two hours late for an appointment, or don’t ever manage to complete your work assignments. That’s a different kind of failure. I am talking about the situations where you accept a position within a company, and realize it’s just not a good fit for you. While you’re there you make the most of the opportunity, learn everything you can, and then hone the skills, take the parts of the job you did like, and turn it into opportunity. College education is vital in certain career fields, but if your degree is in a specific field which is not currently growing, you could be at a loss. How do you work around that?
