I work with companies throughout Indian River County and I am always pleased when I watch them make a concerted effort to hire veterans. I know that plenty of people are still in need of full-time employment, but there is a special place in my mind for men and women who have served our country. It seems to me that veterans often have a stronger work ethic, more self-discipline and are more reliable than the average joe.
Despite some inequities still remaining in certain areas, there are more job openings today for skilled workers than were even available last year. With certain manufacturing sectors positioned to begin ramping up production, and companies like Facebook, who are opening huge server operations in different areas of the country, there may be more jobs than skilled labor in the very near future.
ADP Blog writes:
“As the U.S. labor market continues towards full employment, with more than 15 million jobs added in the past seven years, employers are now in a position where they have to attract and retain new sources of talent with the skills they need.
As our CEO, Carlos Rodriguez, recently stated in the Business RoundtableSM 2017 Sustainability Report, “One source of great talent in this tightening labor market is our Veteran community. Our Veterans are incredibly resilient and possess great leadership, management, and innovative problem-solving skills that businesses today need to succeed.”
