For some of us, working for a great company, with good benefits and co-workers we like is all we ever wanted. But sometimes, no matter how great the company is that we work for, having our own business, being our own boss, is a calling.
There are people who love starting new businesses. The thrill of accomplishment, bringing on good people who become like family, working crazy hours and feeling the rush of creating a successful business, this is what they thrive on. When the business is thriving and running well, they need to sell, and go off to start again.
For others, the end goal is just to have the freedom and sense of accomplishment that running your own business can give you. They have no desire to start another one.
While running your own business can be great, if you jump in, feet first, to a business you know little about, without enough cash reserves, it can spell disaster. Try NOT to do that. If you are heading off in a new direction, before you quit you current career, take the time to plan, research and get educated BEFORE you start the new business.
It is always better to start a business where you already have many of the skills you need. Be realistic about how long it will take you to get up and running, and making a profit. Take a moment to make an appointment with our CPA to help with business planning. No, it’s not free, but compared to losing everything, it’s a reasonable investment.
Start with what you know, then branch out from there if you want to try new things. Hire people who are smarter than you, and listen to them, but always use your own smarts as well.
It’s also a good idea to have us help you with Payroll, Employee Handbooks, and Time Cards. That way you have an impartial third party to create the things that can sometimes become sticking points down the road.
We Love to help people achieve their dreams..
